Official sources and date status
Recorded confirmation and independent source review are shown separately. An institution-specific notice does not establish closure for every employer or school.
Confirmed by the current official calendar or governing rule. Annual Prime Ministerial decisions establish observed public-sector dates; future observed dates are provisional until those decisions issue.

Office arrangements
Government and covered private workplaces follow the annual decisions defining the leave period. Essential operations remain staffed and employment treatment follows the relevant law and decree.
Bank arrangements
The Central Bank publishes its own Eid closure window. Branches and ordinary settlement stop during that period, while cards and electronic banking may remain usable.
School arrangements
Schools close when Eid overlaps the academic term, subject to examination decisions and the Ministry of Education calendar.
History
The feast begins on 10 Dhu al-Hijjah, following the Day of Arafah, and recalls Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice in obedience to God. It coincides with the Hajj season.
Why it matters
Official Egyptian calendars may provide several days around Arafah and Eid. A single annual announcement must not be generalized into a permanent number of paid days.
Observance
Eid prayer, family visits, shared meat and distribution to relatives and people in need are widespread. Holiday travel and gatherings extend through the announced period.
Travel and planning
Demand for trains, buses and flights can peak before Arafah and after the final leave day. Treat unconfirmed future dates as provisional when booking.
