History of National Day
National Day commemorates the Declaration of Independence delivered by President Hồ Chí Minh on 2 September 1945. Article 112 now provides two paid days: 2 September and one adjacent day selected annually.
Importance of National Day
National Day is the official statutory English identity. The adjacent day is selected for the applicable year, so a projected future arrangement must not be presented as officially announced.
How National Day Is Celebrated in Vietnam
Flags, ceremonies, cultural programmes and public events commemorate the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in 1945.
Office Impact
Employees receive 2 September plus either 1 or 3 September as announced for the year. Government office schedules may include separately approved working-day swaps.
Bank Impact
Banks announce service and settlement arrangements once the adjacent National Day date is fixed; a projected neighbouring date should not be treated as confirmed.
School Impact
Schools follow the selected adjacent date and their academic calendar. A government-office swap is not automatically a universal school timetable.
Travel Information
The two-day entitlement can create a longer travel interval when combined with a weekend or an approved swap. Plan only from the applicable annual announcement.
