Labour Law, Article 41 public-holiday list
Reviewed · Scope: legal_context · Checked 2026-10-03
Pre-2021 statutory baseline only. Current Islamic Emirate decisions and dated notices control where the framework has changed or official sources conflict.
Public holiday information
The post-2021 framework is fragmented. Current decisions and dated Ministry of Labour notices take priority over the pre-2021 Labour Law where sources conflict.
Offices
No substitute, bridge or discretionary closure is inferred. Future state dates remain provisional where annual notice practice is material.
Banks
No separate nationwide bank calendar is asserted.
Schools
No separate school-calendar closure is asserted.
Practical planning
Reconfirm lunar dates and services against the latest Afghan official notice.
Frequently asked questions
How are lunar holidays handled?
2026 dates are confirmed only from actual dated evidence. 2027 and 2028 lunar dates are provisional.
Are Ashura and the Prophet’s Birthday included?
No. A current official aviation publication lists both as no-holiday, so older pre-2021 rules are not carried forward.
Are extra closure days included?
No substitute, bridge or one-off closure is included without express evidence.
