About Eid al-Adha
Eid al-Adha begins on 10 Dhu al-Hijjah. Bahrain’s standing government-holiday list covers 10–12 Dhu al-Hijjah, while a particular year’s circular may also address Arafat Day and compensatory closure dates.

Official sources and date status
Recorded confirmation and independent source review are shown separately. An institution-specific notice does not establish closure for every employer or school.

Office arrangements
Public-sector dates follow the annual circular. Article 64 governs full-pay official-occasion leave for private workers and provides extra pay or another day when operational needs require work.
Bank arrangements
CBB lists 27–29 May for Eid al-Adha in 2026 and warns that Islamic holidays are subject to confirmation. Bank treatment in later years should be checked after the annual calendar is issued.
School arrangements
An official holiday period does not by itself establish every school’s break. Consult the current academic calendar for the exact last and return dates.
History
Bahraini legislation lists three Eid al-Adha days for ministries and public bodies. In 2026, the Prime Minister’s Office announced a combined Arafat-and-Eid closure for 26–29 May and a compensatory closure on 31 May because Friday occurred within the period.
Why it matters
The Eid is a central Islamic feast and a major planning period. The distinction between the standing three Eid days and a year-specific combined government circular prevents a temporary arrangement from becoming a false permanent rule.
Observance
Religious observance includes the Eid prayer and the Feast of Sacrifice. This page avoids asserting uniform household, shopping or travel customs that the cited official notices do not establish.
Travel and planning
Year-specific substitute days can alter government availability beyond the core Hijri dates. Confirm agency appointments and carrier schedules for the year of travel.
