History
International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer was established in 1994 by United Nations through A/RES/49/114. The first observance recorded by the establishing programme was in 1995. The official source remains the reference point for changes to the date, designation or annual campaign. The date is stored independently from country calendars so a global observance is never mistaken for a legal closure.
