History
International Day of Women and Girls in Science was established in 2015 by United Nations and UNESCO through A/RES/70/212. The first observance recorded by the establishing programme was in 2016. The official source remains the reference point for changes to the date, designation or annual campaign. The date is stored independently from country calendars so a global observance is never mistaken for a legal closure.
