History
International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation was established in 2012 by United Nations, UNFPA and UNICEF through A/RES/67/146. The first observance recorded by the establishing programme was in 2013. The official source remains the reference point for changes to the date, designation or annual campaign. The date is stored independently from country calendars so a global observance is never mistaken for a legal closure.
