Ministry of Labour, Myanmar

Leave and Holiday Act (1951) and 2014 amendment listing

The official Ministry of Labour index identifies the Leave and Holiday Act and its 2014 amendment. Public holidays are declared annually; the law does not itself establish future lunar dates.

Office arrangements

Listed dates are national public holidays in the cited calendar. No separate office-closure flag or inferred bridge day is added.

Bank arrangements

No separate bank schedule was used. Confirm time-sensitive services directly with the institution.

School arrangements

No separate nationwide school calendar was used. Confirm term arrangements with the relevant institution.

History

Martyrs’ Day commemorates General Aung San and other leaders assassinated on 19 July 1947.

Why it matters

The listing distinguishes nationwide public-holiday status from cultural observance. A festival or commemoration is not treated as a closure without national official support.

Observance

Customs and public ceremonies vary by holiday. Celebration alone does not establish an additional closure day.

Travel and planning

Thingyan and major lunar festivals can affect transport and public services. Check current official notices before travel.
