History
World Diabetes Day was established in 2006 by United Nations, World Health Organization and International Diabetes Federation through A/RES/61/225. The first observance recorded by the establishing programme was in 2007. The official source remains the reference point for changes to the date, designation or annual campaign. The date is stored independently from country calendars so a global observance is never mistaken for a legal closure.
